associate emily: 10 things you may not know about me..

heyyyyyyy emily here! 🙂

there is soooo much to learn from each individual — everyone’s story is different.. everyone’s past is different..  — there are no two alike stories and that is what I love most when learning about people.. hearing WHY they are the way they are now!! so I wanted to do a blog stating 10 random things you may not know about me — or a refresher for those who do know these things!

1: I have been married to my husband, Drew — for 8 years this year!!!! holy cow — where did those 8 years go?!? it honestly feels like it’s been at most 4.. insaneeeee!

2: we have two beautiful little girls who are fraternal twins – their names are Elizabeth (the oldest by 3 minutes haha) and Amelia (the little diva who didn’t want to come out hehe!) — I am a full hearted twin momma 🙂

3:  I am a wedding photographer – who also shoots maternities.. newborns.. milestones.. and family sessions!! I am ALSO Sharon’s office manager for Sharon Elizabeth Photography — I handle writing & scheduling blogs (except her personal/business blogs!) — sending out invoices/contracts/questionnaires — help with emailing — facebook posting — payroll — pinterest… basically ANYTHING she needs help with — I got it! 🙂

4: I am the youngest of three kids (but I don’t act like the baby haha!)  — my parents got divorced when I was 4 years old.. but they had the best co-parenting system — I have nooo complaints! they made it work the best that they could — and they are actually still friends to this day! I am so thankful I am able to say that!

5: I grew up playing softball — and it’s still a passion of mine! I started when I was around 4 or 5 – in t-ball.. then worked my way up through rec. league… and then on to my schools JV softball team.. I was on JV for 3 years — I had the potential to play Varsity my sophomore year butttt I was known to have a horrible attitude — not towards my team mates or coach but towards myself.. when I messed up I beat myself up — I got angry.. I didn’t handle constructive criticism well… I had a horrible mindset and often got defeated. the Varsity coach wanted me to have one more year of JV to help with my attitude — but that same year… I messed my back up sliding into home and softball ended for me.. everything I worked SO hard for got taken away in an instant… talk about a humbling experience… no more dreams of joining the varsity team or ever playing college ball…  it wasn’t until I met my husband that softball came back into my life again! even though I still struggle with beating myself up and thinking I am not good enough.. I’m so thankful I’m able to play again, even if it is slow pitch!!!! And I pray our girls will have that same love for it as we do!!

6: I believe in God — growing up, my grandparents took us to church every Sunday whenever we stayed with them in GA (we totally had to wear those AWFUL floral matching dresses by the way haha!) BUT back home — we didn’t go to church… weekends were for sports – work – or going to my mom’s.. it’s not that we didn’t believe in God we just didn’t MAKE the time. we weren’t close with Jesus — we were believers and not followers, if that makes sense! I can’t quote scripture — I haven’t read the bible cover to cover.. and it wasn’t until this past year that I really began my relationship with Jesus.

7: I am a huge dog lover / animal lover! I have one sweet.. crazy black lab — Shadow! I lost a huge part of my heart back in October.. when my sweet Shiner passed away from cancer.. he lived a long 12 years — he was my best friend.. my cuddle bug to hold when I needed someone to hold. My heart wont be the same without him — poor Shadow lost his older brother.. his best friend.. but he isn’t letting that stop him <3 I can spot a dog a mile away, seriously.

8: I have PCOSPolycystic ovary syndrome — generally speaking, it is where you have numerous cysts on your ovaries — causing pain, many other symptoms and sometimes infertility — which in my case is why I was told I would never have children naturally..

9: I own a tahoe — one of my favorite vehicles I have owned so far!! My first vehicle was a toyota 4runner — then I bought my first car, a mazda 6 — I got a few tickets in that car, I learned my lesson after the third one LOL! Then had a ford escape for a few months after the girls were born.. but we needed bigger… (as you can imagine haha!) a toyota sequoia landed in my lap — and NOW my tahoe 🙂 seriously my favorite – I have always been a truck/SUV girl!

10: I am an enneagram 6, “People of this personality type essentially feel insecure, as though there is nothing quite steady enough to hold onto. At the core of the type Six personality is a kind of fear or anxiety. This anxiety has a very deep source and can manifest in a variety of different styles, making Sixes somewhat difficult to describe and to type.” “This tendency makes Sixes gifted at trouble shooting, but also robs the Six of much needed peace of mind and tends to deprive the personality of spontaneity.” — read more! With learning exactly how I AM — I am able to push through some of those insecurities – because I know that it is just how I am feeling.. not the truth! if you made it through alllll of that you are the real MVP haha! I use to not be such an open book — but as I get older I have come to realize that I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for my past – or the things that I love the most! <3
