associate wedding: maggie + micheal | smithfield, va

My team debriefs after every wedding.  It is a chance to reflect on the day, identify the highs and lows, and consider any areas of improvement.  (Spoiler alert:  I always think there are areas of improvement.) And in our debrief, Associate Emily and the girls had countless amazing moments from Maggie and Micheal’s Smithfield Wedding.  The entire day was full of unique and heartfelt personalization.  Without a shadow of a doubt, this couple created an experience that is so special and specific to their own love.  Some of the highlights for the team were:

  • the many Irish traditions!  Watching the family members pass the wedding rings between one another before Maggie and Micheal exchanged rings was beautiful.  Knowing that each person had the chance to pray or bless the rings with warm wishes was touching.
  • hearing the many tiny bells ringing as Maggie and Micheal exited the church after the ceremony!  The ringing of bells is thought to ward away evil spirts and discord.  The bells matched the excitement of the moment perfectly.
  • the Irish dances – holy cow!  Our team will never listen to Ed Sheeran again without thinking of Maggie and her father using their time together to showcase such a beautiful style of dance.  It was only topped by Maggie being joined by a group of her friends.  Everyone was clapping and cheering.  What a way to start the reception!
  • the cake pulls.  This was a first for our team!  It is a New Orleans tradition in which tiny silver charms are attached to ribbons and placed in the wedding cake.  Single women pull out a charm and are given a blessing based on the charm they pull.  Some of the charms bring wishes of strength, love, success, and lots of other good stuff.
  • the groomsmen.  They were up for anything, never complained when they saw the photographers coming their way for group pictures, and perfectly timed their jump shot on the first try.
  • the vendors.  Seriously.  We have worked with many wedding vendors but this day was comprised of a dynamite group.  There were many moving parts to this day – it couldn’t have happened without the vendors coming together to make sure that everyone had what they needed to deliver.

It all comes back to one thing:  the love of Maggie and Micheal.  They have already explored many parts of the world together.  Now, it’s time to expand those adventures to include some of the ones that come with marriage.  If their wedding day is any indication, we have no doubt that they will find many opportunities for happiness and that the love of their friends and family will guide them to it.

Cheers to Maggie and Micheal Do!  This will be one of those weddings that the Sharon Elizabeth team talk about for years!
